The last week of school they held an awards ceremony for the 2nd through the 5th graders. So of course I attended like I should. They started announcing the different awards they would be giving out for math, reading and writing. Only one student from each class would receive each award. Much to my surprise and excitement Burke received the reading award for his class. I had no idea. Lucky me my girlfriend Spring caught it all on camera. She also caught Elle, learning to walk and keeping me busy throughout the ceremony. Good job buddy!!!
Being a christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all of the yucky stuff -- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a bright new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

Fish Hatchery Field Trip
Burke's class went to the Fish hatchery for his end of the year field trip. He and his 2 buddies had fun feeding the fish and riding the train to the hatchery. The whole class was so excited. We learned about the volume of fish that go through the hatchery and how they release the fish. This wasn't the first time we had been there but fun none the less. Back at the train station the kids had a picnic and were able to buy ice cream cones!!! Yummy!!

Sonshine Mother's Day Tea

Colby's school had a Mother's day Tea just before we left for the River. Here are some of the cute things he made for me as well as Colby singing with his class. He is such a sweet boy. I was so proud of him and his manners that day. Colby got me my sundae and showed me all the cool things in his class room. I love the sheet his teacher helped him fill out about his Mom too. How adorable he is!!

Astronaut John Bennett Herrington

The local elementary school hosted a NASA Astronaut tonight. His talk was really quite amazing. He has flown over 30 different aircraft, been on the space station, 3 times on the space shuttle, a test pilot. He is the first American Indian to have gone into outer space. We learned interesting stuff like, the computer controls the flight of the space shuttle, how difficult it is to sleep in space, the air smells like burnt metal, water floats into a ball and all sorts of other trivia. It was amazing. Burke went with his cub scout troop. Commander Herrington stated how he was a cub scout too.

Pajama Day
Colby had pajama day at school today. He was so cute. He picked out his favorite new snuggly outfit, fleece urban camo and hat with ears. Grandma Pam and Grandpa George got this for him for Christmas. It's been a struggle to get him out of it ever since. He took his new Froggy- Flipp with him for a Pillow. Flipp doubles as a backpack. Thanks Auntie Amy for him. As well as his new "Cars" blanket. He is enjoying all of his Christmas presents!!

Proud Mom
I was so proud of Burke. This last week he was awarded "Student of the month". His teacher described him as that one student always sitting on the edge of his desk waiting to find out the next thing they are doing in class. As well as being a great friend to others in his class. Burkie has really blossomed this year with his current teacher. I am so thankful.

Colby had a beach play day at school on September 14. He and his 2 buddies Dorian and Cody had such a good time together sharing lunch, dunking in water, and splashing around that I had a hard time getting Colby to come home. I just love how playful Colby is.
