K.P.

Mom has been getting frustrated and overwhelmed with her duties since last year so at the start of this year we've begun a chore chart. The kids have always done chores so this was more to remind MOm to remind them what they need to do. They receive points and they are trading off every other week between Yard duty- i.e. dog pooper scooper, feeding rabbit, cat and dog, putting outside toys away, etc. and Kitchen Patrol - i.e. emptying dishwasher, drying dishes, setting table, clearing the table, helping make cookies or breads etc. Mom has made it clear that whether on KP or Yard Duty all tasks in the house are everyones and you need to do what is asked of you. This has helped Mom immensely as well as teaching them the responsibilities of the house. The great thing is... they have been so motivated and willing to help it is refreshing!!!
The kids of course had to have fun with the idea of Kitchen Patrol and made themselves, helmets, swords and shields while putting the dishes away forme. It was too cute. I had to take a picture of it. They were pretending to protect princess Elle from the chores! Of course Elle just wants to help, because she wants to do anything the boys are doing!

Fort Freedom

Fort Freedom

Colby and Daisy
Burke Swinging from the ropes

This Monday's holiday we spent time in our yard cleaning up. It was a beautiful day with the temp in the 70's and 80's. We have been promising the boys a treehouse for a while, so we decided to do a little work on it. It is still in progress but boy do they love it. Colby came home from school yesterday and said. " Mom, I couldn't wait to come home to play in my fort with my dog!"
He did just that, came home took his homework to his fort with Daisy and had a snack!

We haven't been able to use the fort this weekend but Daddy has plans to build a roof for times when it rains.

Crazy about Legos

While we were on vacation. Burke and Colby's cousin Joe gave them all his old Lego's. Star Wars edition. They had so much fun and are continuing to have to much fun building ships, vehicles etc. Mom and Dad even got involved one day to build some stuff. Nick built a Pacman cart. We even rearranged the toys in the room to make room for the Lego's and separated them into Star Wars, General building/City, Aqua Raiders, and Castle/Knight. We had to bag the Indiana Jones Lego's. It has made them much more accessible and fun for the boys to get into and play.

One of the thnigs I love about Bass Lake

Last weekend we had to make a trip to Bass Lake to replace the Styrofoam on our dock with plastic floats. We also decided to replace the wood on top with leftover Trex from our new deck. While Mom, Dad and Uncle Shane were working on this the boys played. I caught them on camera playing marbles (our new favorite game) in the middle of the street. I'm not sure where else in California you could do this without fear of being run over by a car. This is one of the things I love about Bass Lake.

Bubble bath in the Big tub

Our new house has a big tub in the master bathroom. The boys and Mom & Dad love it. We had a fun bath day with bubbles again. They made beards and all the fun stuff you used to to as a kid. Remember? Plus they got to watch themselves in the mirror. Does it get any better?
