Red eye green tree frog asleep- they are nocturnal and found primarily in the Costa Rica Cloud forest.

A cloud forest is different from a rain forest primarily by elevation and the effect of volcanoes surrounding the cloud forest which create a constant cloud cover. We decided to make our one main trip to Monteverde, the Costa Rica cloud forest. After the zip line we took a long hike through the forest to a waterfall. We spotted what we believed to be sloths, birds and lots of hanging vines. Over 90 species of birds migrate from North America to this cloud forest every year. The trees were amazing. There was one kind of tree that a parasitic vine would literally take over, the tree would rot out and the vines became the tree. You can see the sky looking from the base of the tree from the inside of the tree. Check out the picture above. The boys are standing between the "vines of the tree".
